JULY & AUGUST 2016 NEWSLETTER

Dear Friends, yogis, summer lovers and wonderful beings,

" Beauty is invisible to the eye, for one sees only with the heart"
The Little Prince

We hope that you are all enjoying the summer, the sea and the freedom that these long summer nights bring. The summer brings a change in our social life, our daily schedule becomes a bit more free giving us more room for spontaneous gatherings, swims or just the fact that we can stay up a bit longer ..........As we step deeper into the path of our practice, whatever that may be for you, we also learn when to step back, nurture, and draw within, even with all the wonderful gatherings that the summer brings.

We encourage you to dive deeper not only into the sea but into that one practice that lifts your spirits and that really allows you to connect with something much higher than yourself.  There comes a time when we must stop searching and sampling different practices but choose to instead dive deeper.  That takes commitment and courage, but that is how we can evolve and break through.

We have had a very busy spring with many teacher trainings happening at Earth Yoga. We were so proud to host so many wonderful teachers: Jeanne Heileman, David Lurey, Mirjam Wagner, Tara Judelle and Scott Lyons. It is a blessing and an honor to see the faces and minds open up through these great trainings.

Now we are back to our regular schedule and we are so grateful for all the yogis who come to practice with us on a daily basis from all over the world. As our regular students and friends leave to enjoy their summer holidays, we welcome tourists and clients who are either vacationing here on the island or have this as their second home.

This coming week we will receive 20 yogis mostly from Sweden joining us in our "Yoga Summer Boost". We are 4 teachers teaching both Hatha, Yin , Vinyasa, Kundalini and Ishta Yoga. These yogis will recieve more than 13 hours of yoga over the course of 4 days and also be given time for more alignment and some soul searching. This is something we plan to do on a regular basis, so do keep up to date with our newsletter to see when the next one is! Our teachers are Sarah, Sandra, Malin and Linda.

On Friday 15th July a well known teacher from Sweden called Sam Aziz will be teaching the usual 10am Vinyasa Class. Sam has an extensive yoga background in Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin and Restorative Yoga. This will be a regular scheduled class so Bonocards are accepted. Just come along 10mins before the class begins to sign in and take your spot.

Our summer schedule in July and August remains the same apart from no yoga for beginner classes on Wednesdays and Fridays and no Vinyasa in Spanish with Mateo on Wednesday evenings until September. For the most up to date schedule please visit our website www.earthyoga.es.

Please note that our workshop weekend in
August with Dylan Werner is now full.  Dylan will be teaching a strong flow which will include many arm balances and will be sharing his techniques for going upside down. Please contact us at reception if you would like to be put on a waiting list if a space becomes available.

Do take care, stay true to your heart and soul.

Love
Sandra and the Earth Yoga Team

APRIL 2016 NEWSLETTER

Dear Yogis,

"On this path, effort never goes to waste, and there is no failure. Even a little effort toward spiritual awareness will protect you from the greatest fear."
The Bhagavad Vita , Eknath Easwaran translation

We continue to grow together and welcome Spring with hope and the sense of re birth.   We were proud to sponsor an amazing documentary called " Down to Earth " that was viewed last week at CineCiutat Cinema. A beautiful true story of a family who leave everything behind and travel with their 3 children to live with Native Americans in America and then to travel the world to visit, know and connect with the shamans of many different cultures of today.   It was a true inspiration of the importance of Grace for our world, each other and most of all nature. It was also a true testament to that spirituality can be practiced in many ways ...

March was good month for Earth Yoga, with your help we raised over 260 euros through our donation practice to Fundacion Nazareth. Katja and Dr Marcus Klische hosted a 3 day meditation course and Katja also taught two wonderful workshops on our chakras over the Easter weekend (another way to celebrate spirituality) Thank you Katja for showing up and teaching when many of us were off eating too much chocolate!   We were also featured in two local magazines, The Daily Bulletin and The Islander .

The next few months will be a busy and inspiring time for us here at Earth Yoga.

We are proud to host David Lurey and Mirjam Wagner´s 300 hour Teacher Training (9 - 22 April) which is currently sold out.
They will be using the shala for 10 days and it will be good to meet and coincide with other yogis from all over Europe through this. Our regular classes will continue as normal during this time.

We are also honored to have Tara Judelle host her 300 hour training with us from 24 April until 5 May. Her training is completely full and will run for 10 days.   During her training our regular classes will move into the small shala . It will affect us all but we hope to make these 10 days as smooth as possible for you.   We will not have a problem with any of our off peak hour classes, but for the peak hour classes at 10-11.30 or 18.30-20.00, there will be a first come first served policy for the 10 days.  So, to ensure your place, please come a bit earlier to practice and we will all have to remember to keep noise to a minimum as there will be a practice going on in the main shala.   For any of our clients who have an unlimited bono and for some reason can not get a spot during these days, we will happily extend your unlimited bono for an extra week.

We have pleasure in offering a Capoeira Workshop on Saturday 16 April (12.00 - 14.30). Wellington will introduce the basic Capoeira techniques including songs and rhythms of the Capoeira rituals. To save your spot please contact Wellington on (+34 604 34 20 08)

Mirjam Wagner will also be back in May to host her Moving into Stillness Weekend. For more information please contact us at reception or email info@earthyoga.es

We are very happy to welcome our Jeanne Heileman back to Earth Yoga. She will be teaching Part 3 of her 300 hr Tantra Flow Teacher Training.   This course is open to teachers who have already completed a 200hr training and for devoted yoga students who are not Teachers but desire to learn more about their own practice.   It is not necessary to have completed part one or two of this training as each 100 hour module can be taken individually.
Dates : 30th May - 11 June

For more information about Jeanne please visit her website www.jeanneheileman.com.

If you would like to know more about the course
please get in touch with Sandra, Jay or Katja or email us : info@earthyoga.es

We will host our monthly Donation practice on Thursday 14 April at 10am. All monies raised will go to Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, an elephant sanctuary in Africa. Sandra already cares for two orphans elephants there and knows what a worthwhile charity it is.

To continue our Yogi of the month theme, we would like to introduce our
April Yogi of the month : Almu

Alma was born in Madrid and has since then lived in many places. She has moved between Madrid, Barcelona, London, back to Madrid and all over the mainland. Her first time on Mallorca was in 2009. Almu likes change and does not mind moving to new places. She says “that is how life goes.” Almu studied a dual degree of Law and Business, for which she did a semester abroad in London, and now she works in traffic control. Almu took up yoga when she was in her early teens and lived in Madrid. Due to moving around, she has done yoga in a number of locations, but has also practiced a variety of sports, such as sailing and diving. When she became pregnant, she took up yoga again and practiced continuously throughout her pregnancy. Almu said “that it helped her a lot and labour only took an hour.” She is grateful for having taken up yoga again and felt as though she received a lot of support from the practice and the teachers. After moving to Valencia, she found a studio that she really liked and for the first time got more engaged with the philosophy of yoga, pranayama and chanting. Here, she also studied Sanskrit. Since then, Almu has had a dedicated yoga practice and, living back on Mallorca, comes to Earth Yoga almost daily. Almu says that she loves Earth Yoga because, “it is like a shelter” where you can come after a tough day to disconnect and the studio, “feels like home” to her. We are delighted to have such a wonderful and dedicated yogi like Almu practice with us. Almu is very involved in our Earth Yoga community and has made some great suggestions for the studio. Stay as you are, Almu, and keep up the great practice!

Sadly our wonderful intern Kim is leaving us this week and we can not thank her enough for all the hours, work and energy she has put forth toward moving Earth Yoga forward.  Thank You Kim and the good news is that she plans to be back this summer so we will definitely see her back at Earth Yoga in 2015.

Love

Sandra and The Earth Yoga Team

MARCH 2016 NEWSLETTER

Dear Yogis,

“ We delight in the beauty of a butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty”     Maya Angelou

March is upon us and we encourage ourselves and all of you, dear loyal yogis, to really step into your strength, truth and practice.    What keeps coming back to me and to a lot of the friends and souls around me, is the importance to guide our thoughts in the right way and to keep our practice as one of the main tools to steer our ship back on its course.

"Our thoughts can limit what we are capable of doing .
Our mind is good at setting us up for failure and getting us to think small .
But I have found that we will do for love that which we don’t think is possible.
So the question to ask ourselves is : “ What do I Love “?

 Julia Butterfly Hill

We have been brainstorming and asking ourselves at Earth Yoga, how can we grow, reach out more and how can we become more truthful with our practice and our core of being each day?

So we have created a few more classes, and challenges both for mind, body and spirit. Some of our dear yoga teachers have been away, seeking inspiration overseas like Katja , Brent and Julia.   They are now back and happy to be teaching again, and we are happy to have them back!   Angela is taking the month of March off to travel and to immerse herself into an advanced teacher training.   We wish her an amazing journey and know that she will come back inspired and ready to share more. While Angela is away Rebecca will guide and teach our Monday evenings classes.
If you have never had a class with Rebecca , come and join her on Mondays at 7pm. Her classes will challenge you both physically and mentally and will leave you feeling energized.

Starting in March we are very happy to introduce two new classes to our schedule:

We have a big drive to get more
Men to visit and practice here at EarthYoga.  So beginning
Thursday 3 March, Kim will be teaching a "Men ’s Yoga" at 10 - 11.30 am in the small shala. These classes will focus on clear alignment, building strength at the same time as really stretching the body.   Please help spread the word and for every new man who signs up they will get 40 % off of their first class or 40% off of their first bonocard.

We are also introducing a “ Gentle Yoga “ class with Stefanie Witschel. This will begin on Wednesday 9 March in the small shala at 10 - 11.30.  Stefanie will be teaching a hatha based practice with a focused approach to mobilizing the spine and strengthening core muscles. The class will always end with 45 min of Yin poses. Again the same 40% discount applies so if you know of anyone looking for a softer practice and if this is their first time at Earth Yoga then please get them to talk to us a reception.

We will continue our monthly donation based practice which take place one thursday per month. Last month we practiced for UNICEF, and especially to the department focusing on children suffering from the effects of war. This month our donation practice will take place on Thursday 10 March, all donations will go towards the orphanage and childcare centre called Nazareth, located here in Palma. They educate, house and take care of children who can no longer stay with their parents.

We are very happy to welcome back Dr. Marcus Klische and our dear yoga teacher Katja Katzmarcik who will be hosting the second Meditation & Yoga Course here at Earth Yoga from 15 until 17 March. If you are interested in finding our more about the course or would like to sign up please do get in touch either by email info@earthyoga.es or speak to us at reception.

Katja will also be hosting two special Chakra Workshops over the Easter Weekend. On Good Friday (25th March) she will be teaching a workshop based on the three lower chakras (Muladhara, Svadhisthana and Manipura) and on Easter Sunday (27th March) she will be teaching a workshop based on the four higher Chakras (Anahata, Vishuddha, Ajna and Sahasrara).  Each workshop will include an asana practice focussing on the poses relating to the different chakras as well as an in-depth discussion regarding the meaning of the chakras and how it can relate to your own personal well being.   The time for each workshop will be 11.00- 14.00 and will cost 45€. We have a special price of 80€ if you commit to both workshops. If you are interested in signing up or would like to know more please contact info@earthyoga.es.  Both workshops are open to all yoga levels and beginners are very welcome.

To continue our Yogi of the month theme, we would like to introduce our
March Yogi of the month : Albert

´Albert is one of our senior practitioners and yogis here at Earth Yoga and does an incredible job by coming to practice with us on an almost daily basis. Albert came to Yoga when he lived in Hong Kong for some years and searched for a way that would allow him to relief stress and find a different environment to his daily life in the city. Albert has spent a lot of time practicing yoga in Hong Kong and Bangkok and said that the difference is amazing because, compared to most of us in the West, people are much more flexible. When I asked him what it is now that he loves about yoga, Albert said: “Not doing yoga is like not eating.”   Taking up yoga at 60 years old, Albert has practiced yoga for 10 years now and has become an amazing example of what yoga can do for you, no matter how old or flexible you are! Albert’s favourite pose is trikonasana, triangle pose. And he wanted to add that his most disliked pose is pigeon! Albert has been practicing with us at Earth Yoga for almost 6 years now and loves the authenticity of the people here. We feel honoured to have such a worldly man practicing with us! Thank you Albert and keep up the effort!´

We have placed a suggestion box on our tea table in front of sofa, we would love to have your feedback and suggestions for how we can grow, improve and inspire more.  Sometimes you may even find a chocolate next to the box if you leave us a note!   We also kindly ask you to like our FB page and maybe even leave us a note there too. And we are also on Instagram we are @earthyogamallorca please feel free to follow our Earth Yoga journey.

Sending you all much love and inspiration to grow, encourage and act.

Love
Sandra and the Earth Yoga Team
